0    90   must be earned with actual perfect attendance; no excused absences
      85   must be earned with only 1 actual absence; no excused absences
      80   2 absences of any kind
1    77   beginning with the 3rd absence of any kind; no excused absences after first 2

Notice that there is a certain point where attendance problems makes it virtually impossible to earn a passing grade in the course. If you have serious and extended attendance problems due to difficulties beyond your control, the university provides a Withdrawal opportunity near the middle of the semester and at the very end of the semester a special Withdrawal due to extraordinary difficulties.
